Navy

Today my brother joined the Navy. Well, technically he's going to be sworn in tomorrow. But he left for the Cities today. We had our last family meal together until he's done with basic right around Christmas. We're all hoping his graduation date will be pushed ahead because of the holidays, but I've learned not to expect too much from the government in this regard. Today they even called and told my brother he had to leave an hour earlier than expected, which may not seem like much, but when you're trying to say good bye, an hour seems like a lot of time.

Our whole family is getting a lot of support from our church family. Many people of come forward telling us they were keeping us in our prayers--which is very comforting. God is watching over him, and from what I have seen, my brother's faith is strong.

The rest of my day has kind of been in recovery. I started out trying to keep busy, and then crashed. I honestly can't remember if I have homework due tomorrow or not. I know many families go through some kind of experience like this, so we are not alone. But its hard to believe that tomorrow or even a week or a month from today, my brother won't be downstairs, or coming home from practice. We'll all miss him so much, but we're also very proud of the path he's chosen to take.
